When it comes to kernels, and different distributions as guests, my
experience is that it's best to use the guest's native kernel (if
there's a version available with xen support).
I didn't manage to get to that point with xen-tools(only yesterday I
started testing the centos-5 installs with xen-tools/rinse), so I have
no ready solution on how to do it there, but in many test settings with
different distribution's as guests, it turned out that it's better to
run a kernel made for the distribution in place.
(even if I have to say, on debian it was quite easy to run other
distribiutions as guest with the debian kernel - it was not possible at
all to run anything else on fedora with their kernel, and a lot of
fiddling was needed to get something different run on a suse host - so,
with a debian host, things _might_ work).
