The person who actually tried to do this is in a meeting so I'll just
reply to this part right now.  After running deboostrap we tried to
copy the appropriate kernel and modules into the guest Debian image
where they would normally go and didn't try to use any sort of ram
disk.  I'll get you more details in a few.
