I don't think so. There might be more competitors and each one gets
smaller pieces of the cake, but there are also still a lot of people
relying on it.

For me, kvm is still only suitable for quickly starting up some
throwaway VMs, and networking is still annoying to configure.

If I want all the infrastructure I have with Xen + Xen-Tools with kvm,
I seem to need the full bloat of libvirt, dbus and what not.

Well, that's IMHO a different thing. Containers don't provide complete
machines and the use cases are usually a better chroot-thingy.

Please note that I neither orphaned it nor that I stated that I will
stop working on it.

I just wanted to make clear that if someone is unhappy with my
maintenance intervals and wants to take over the lead, I'm happy to
give the project's steering wheel to someone else.

Definitely not! Letting projects just die is not my way of handling
open source projects which still have users.

Besides and as mentioned before: I still use and need it, just not
very often.
